Indeed, a sweet celebration of ‘Haq Al Laila, a tradition celebrated in the Gulf countries, an ancient Emirati heritage passed down from generations, where children wear traditional clothes, carry colorful woven bags, and go from door to door singing, in return for sweets. A reminder of the values of generosity, unity, and gratitude. Haq Al Laila is also known as Qargian, a cherished tradition passed down through generations. This annual event which means, ‘For this night’, is celebrated on the night of Shaaban 15, during the eighth month of the Islamic Hijri Calendar, the month that precedes Ramadan. In view of this, our students celebrated ‘Haq Al Laila’ at school, on 23rd February 2024, with all its joy and piety. It was a lovely sight to see the students in their traditional Arabic attire, with colorful baskets full of sweets. A great way of spreading cultural awareness among the students, truly celebrating diversity. A magical time to connect with cultural roots and create memories with friends and family, in spreading happiness all around.
