Under the teacher’s watchful eye, the Fourth Graders took up the ‘Lava Lamp’ experiment! Into the beakers, the students added baking soda and vegetable oil, anticipating a dazzling reaction. But hush, everything remained calm! They knew something was missing! They followed the teacher’s instructions and poured some vinegar and red food color. Suddenly, the experiment came alive! A fizzy, colorful foam erupted, which looked like the flow of lava from an erupted volcano. This hands-on experimentation was fun at the same time it ignited their understanding of chemical reactions, density differences, and the power of observation. Through this engaging activity, the budding scientists not only witnessed a captivating phenomenon but also developed a deeper appreciation for science and its revelations.
